Printing and Embossing Effects on Virtually Any Media

ECO-UV Ink

ECO-UV inks adhere to a wide range of treated and untreated substrates with exceptional color gamut. Instant-drying and flexible, ECO-UV inks produce prints that require no degassing and can be stretched and applied around curved surfaces and edges without cracking.

The LEJ series supports ECO-UV inks in two formulations: original ECO-UV in CMYK, white and clear and ECO-UV S ink in CMYK and white.

Original ECO-UV delivers outstanding performance for printing environments that require clear coat to finish graphics. For wide-format VersaUV devices configured with CMYK and white only (CMYK + White + White), users can upgrade to ECO-UV S for added flexibility. ECO-UV S expands up to 220 percent, allowing graphics to wrap uneven shapes, indentations, corners and curved surfaces. With ECO-UV S, prints mold perfectly to the contours of PET bottles and plastic cups, and adhere flawlessly to vacuum-formed plastic that is commonly used for items ranging from food service trays to auto parts packaging and consumer electronics cases.

Choose from four ink configurations:

  • Original ECO-UV
    • CMYK + White + Clear
    • CMYK + White + White
    • CMYK + Clear + Clear
  • ECO-UV S
    • CMYK + White + White

Instant On/Off

LED lamps can be turned on and off instantly and are ready to use immediately after the printer is turned on. By contrast, conventional curing systems may take up to ten minutes to reach the targeted output level. Conventional curing systems also require complex, noisy and failure-prone shutter systems to protect substrates and head capping systems from exposure to UV light and heat.

VersaWorks RIP Software

VersaWorks RIP software has been developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters. This true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use and incorporates the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine.
VersaWorks supports the Roland Color system which accurately reproduces more than 1,000 spot colors from color charts and swatch books. For the VersaUV series, VersaWorks also includes the Roland Texture Library featuring 72 ready-to-use textures that can be applied to designs by layering the LEJ’s clear coat ink. For white ink applications, you can select from either single pass or dual pass modes.

With VersaWorks, you can choose from print options including a high-speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics and Artistic mode for exceptional indoor graphics.

Advanced Media Take-Up System

The LEJ-640 includes an automated media take-up system to facilitate precision unattended printing when using roll media. This pre-assembled unit includes an advanced tension-controlled take-up system for optimum media feed and tracking.

Unsurpassed Media Compatibility

VersaUV supports printing on BOPP, PE, PET film, offset printing stock and more. The low heat UV LED lamps allow printing on heat-sensitive media such as shrink wrap, pressure sensitive media and paper stocks with no risk of damaging the substrate. You can also use the VersaUV to create original patterns and 3D domed corporate logos directly onto synthetic and natural leathers and to customize window coverings, tapestries and other interior décor items. The LEJ-640 enables printing on rigid media such as corrugated cardboard for folding cartons, polycarbonate sheets for membrane switch applications and Foam-Cor® or Gatorfoam® for POP and exhibit walls.

Roland Intelligent Pass Control

Across a wide variety of applications and media, Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology delivers outstanding image quality in all print modes while eliminating virtually any signs of banding. First introduced in the SOLJET PRO III series, this patent-pending system ensures that graphics look great when viewed indoors or outdoors, up close and at a distance.

Reliability

As with all Roland inkjet printers, the LEJ-640 is a virtually bulletproof production machine. With regular maintenance, it will provide years of trouble-free service. But, unlike most inkjets that require daily maintenance, the LEJ-640 requires servicing significantly less often.

Low Heat

While conventional UV lamps can reach temperatures as high as 1500°F (800°C) requiring complex heat management systems, the LED lamps on the LEJ-640 generate very little heat. This ensures that the UV lamps virtually eliminate any heat-related risks such as substrate damage and head crash caused by media deformation.
