Advanced Eight-Channel Print Head Technology

VSi Series wide-format printer/cutters incorporate the latest in variable droplet inkjet technology. Each model boasts an advanced eight-channel Piezo inkjet print head containing 180 nozzles per channel in a gold-plated housing, specially engineered to reduce static and prevent clogging. With seven different droplet sizes available, the VSi Series achieves remarkably smooth gradations and richer density for photographic and high-resolution vector output. A new head protection plate and recessed print head prevent head strikes from rippling media.

High Speed Network Connection

Equipped with Roland’s own 100 Base-TX/10 Base-T interface, VSi Series printer/cutters connect seamlessly to office networks without additional software, achieving an increased data transmission rate of 100 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly efficient printing environment.

Print/Cut Advantage

VersaCAMM VSi Series inkjets streamline the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics and eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics, saving you valuable time and resources.

Quadralign™

For laminated graphics, our Quadralign four-point optical registration system allows users to remove prints, laminate and simply reload them for precision cutting. Quadralign automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion. Every VSi Series model can also function as a stand-along vinyl cutter.

Eco-Sol MAX® 2 Inks

Roland’s new environmentally-friendly, high-definition Eco-Sol MAX 2 eco-solvent inks are specially designed to optimize image quality and color on a wide range of coated and uncoated media. Eco-Sol MAX 2 inks are virtually odorless, nickel-free and GREENGUARD Gold certified for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into indoor air, ensuring a healthier work environment. Inks are packaged in convenient 440 ml cartridges (White and silver available in 220 ml cartridges only) and are water, scratch and UV resistant up to three years outdoors*. Combined with variable droplet technology, Roland Eco-Sol MAX 2 inks deliver more brilliant color with superb detail in the highlights and smoother blends and transitions overall.
*Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions.

Light Black, Metallic Silver and High-Density White Specialty Eco-Sol MAX 2 Inks

New Eco-Sol MAX 2 specialty inks enhance the image quality of Roland’s VSi Series printer/cutters, even at higher speeds, allowing for stunning effects and adding value and sophistication to any graphic.

• Light Black – For better reproduction of gray color gradients and more natural skin tones.
• Metallic Silver – This silver ink can be printed as a spot color or combined with CMYK to produce over 500 striking metallic and pearlescent colors.
• High-Density White – Allows for greater opacity.

Print Speeds

With print speeds of up to 289 sq. ft. per hour for CMYK applications (VS-640i) and print/cut capability, the VersaCAMM VSi further expedites the production cycle by allowing you to print and contour cut your designs together – even unattended – in one easy step.

Wiper System

A patent-pending wiper system is included to decrease wear and tear on the print head and prolong its life by reducing ink buildup. The VSi Series includes a combination of standard wipers and additional side wipers that reduce the maintenance issues caused by ink reservoirs and dust, resulting in fewer manual cleanings.

Integrated Heating System and Optional Benes Dryer

Roland printers are designed to dry prints quickly, even in high speed modes, for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. Every VSi Series wide-format printer/cutter features a built-in, two-stage integrated heater system that accommodates a wide range of media. This advanced system delivers the proper amount of heat for each application, yielding outstanding results every time. For added convenience, users can store individual settings right in the printer. To ensure the highest image quality when printing white and metallic silver inks, Roland also offers the Benes dryer system as an option for VersaCAMM Series models.

Two Print Modes for Metallic Effects

Choose from Blended and Layered print modes to optimize metallic images. Blended mode mixes CMYKLcLm and metallic silver ink together to produce more natural metallic colors, while Layered mode prints metallic silver first, followed by CMYKLcLm in one pass to add richness to metallic effects.

Advanced Media Handling

True production printers, each VSi Series model features an advanced media handling system. The VS-640i allows users to feed rolls up to 88 pounds, while the VS-540i and VS-300i can handle rolls of up to 66 pounds and 55 pounds, respectively. Upgraded media flanges and seven pinch rollers secure the heaviest media in place, providing accurate feeding and tracking throughout the longest production runs. Print head height is adjustable to accomodate variable media thicknesses.

Among the many benefits of owning a Roland inkjet is its ability to share information with you so you can print with confidence, even when you’re not there. A predictive Ink Calculator lets you see whether you’ll have enough ink to run the print jobs you’ve posted to the queue. Roland OnSupport then sends an e-mail to your computer or smart phone, notifying you when a job is completed or ink is running low.
